MINISTRIES & PROGRAMS


  • Bible Reading Team

     

    The team review the Bible Reading Year Plan within the congregation. They come up with creative ways to help everyone stay on course. If you have good administrative skills or love daily Bible devotionals, you are welcome.

  • Children’s Ministry

     

    The activities of the department include, nurturing the children in the fear of God through children-centred biblical teachings. They play a crucial role in preserving the future generations and ensuring that the knowledge and worship of God is properly passed on to the next generation. "Our aim is to help every child understand the faith and be able to articulate this faith." Available spaces for all children, young people, parents, Uncles and Aunts.

  • Church Office

     

    This is the interface between the church leadership and the various units/departments of the church. Personal details and contacts of members are managed by this department. It also organises events and provides an essential link between departments ensuring that they work together as a body and that the church operations run smoothly. Administrative and organisational skills required to join the team.

  • Evangelism/Outreach Ministry

     

    This team champion door to door outreach within Beckton as well as links with local hospices. They organise and plan weekly, monthly and quarterly outreaches as planned by the church leadership or as led by the Holy Spirit. The outreach team also help establish new converts, young believers or rededicated Christians into appropriate discipleship streams.

  • Finance Team

     

    The team has the sole responsibility to administrate proper financial procedures and systems for all City Chapel donations, tithes and offerings. Anyone with financial training qualifications can volunteer.

  • Hospital/Hospice Chaplaincy

     

    An emerging department which aim to work around the clock by providing pastoral care. Visit and pray for sick people in the Newham University Teaching Hospital as well as visit local hospices.

  • Hospitality Unit

     

    This department is responsible for ensuring the welfare of our members and visitors. They work closely with the protocol department and also cater for meetings and other events in church and ensure that all refreshments are prepared in a clean and hygienic manner. If you love serving people, can bake or cook, can run errands, or simply smile....you are welcome!!

  • Man-2-Man

     

    Usually holds several times within a year with the core principle of building relationships, developing individuals and reaching men in the community with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This forum helps to facilitate the spiritual and personal development of every man.

  • Media Team

     

    The technical crew has a mission to capture and give audio-visual expression of the gospel to all within and outside the church that all may see, hear and understand the good news. The responsibilities of the team include: audio-visual projections, the recording of preaching, teaching messages and video recordings.


    They manage the City Chapel website and other social networking sites. People with skills or experience with website design, cameras, computers and programmes are being asked to volunteer.

  • Music Academy

     

    Facilitated by Nick Broadbent who holds a vision to develop community choirs and create a local music school for urban kids. This holds weekly on Thursday at Bonaventure School in Forest Gate. Anyone who seeks to develop their musical abilities, vocal range or learn to play an instrument can apply.

  • Music Ministry

     

    The music department incorporates both the praise and worship team and the instrumentalists. They sing spirit-inspired songs aimed at leading people into God’s presence, ministering comfort and joy to the people of God. Their schedule involves weekly rehearsals usually 7:30pm on Tuesdays at St Marks

  • Newham Food bank

     

    This ministry operates as an inter-dependent body within the framework of the City Chapel Network and aims to alleviate poverty, deprivation and despair in the Newham Community. The Food bank has blossomed within such a short time alongside the Teen Challenge and St Matthews programs which all help to keep City Chapel outreach focused.

  • Pastoral Team

     

    The team creates a network of spiritual shepherding and oversight for City Chapel members, and supports all discipleship streams in City Chapel. The team works closely with the Steering Team and provides all counselling and Pastoral needs within the church. Anyone with experience or training for ministry can apply by seeing Pastors Abbiih/Jonathan

  • Prayer Ministry

     

    This ministry handles prayer matters on behalf of the whole church.

    The schedule covers intercessory prayers for members of the church, the community, and the Nation. There are constant chains of prayer and fasting that take place everyday alongside Midnight prayers every night.

    Everyone in City Chapel is called to this ministry whilst those with a grace or anointing to Intercede above the average believer are welcome to assist those who facilitate the river of prayer that is flowing constantly.

  • Protocol Department

     

    This department is responsible for welcoming people to any public service or event. They take care of the auditorium or chapel and provide general cleaning/maintenance. They are the first point of contact for the congregation and visitors on the church premises. The schedule of work includes handing out church bulletins to the members and visitors, handling the collection, setting up chairs or tables and an creating a clean, calm and worshipful atmosphere during public congregational worship.

  • St Matthews

     

    A family oriented tuition centre focused on helping 6-16 year olds and aims to inspire all children regardless of their ability to learn to become the best that they can be. "Our aim is to complement the learning programs offered by our local schools through the provision of additional support in core curriculum subjects." St Matthews will provide Sunday Tuition from March 2011.

  • Teen Challenge Partnership

     

    Spearheaded by the men in City Chapel via Man-2-Man. The men are rotated in weekly teams of 2-3 and join the Teen Challenge team every Thursday at Ealing Broadway from 8:30-10:30pm. There are plans to move operations to Stratford within the first half of 2011

  • Welcomers Team

     

    Their key role is to make people feel welcome in City Chapel both within the service and beyond. This is a team involving people who have a gift to be warm towards anybody. They focus on all First-timers or those relatively new to the congregation. If you have a special love for people irrespective of their social, cultural or class background, then this is the place for YOU!

  • Womenz World

     

    This ministry is dedicated to educating, empowering, informing, and impacting the lives of women; who in turn will be the best God has called them to be.

    Womenz World aims to activate the innate abilities in women through practical, fun and spirit filled meetings.

  • Youth Ministry

     

    This ministry has the role of raising a generation of young people whose hearts burn and yearn after God. The prime aim is to help them in their formative years to discover the revelation/experience of the Word and Spirit of God. To guide them to make a firm commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ as they are faced with peer-pressure and the challenges of their generation and the society at large. It also aims to channel the strength and exuberance of youths towards promoting the gospel. "A church without Youth is a church without Fun or a Future".
